I am about to get a a westie and would like a pair of perspex wind deflectors to attatch to the windcreen [ie where the doors fit on to the pins ] -i had these on my previous caterham and liked them a lot -much nicer without those wretched doors ]
So does anyone know where i can buy said deflectors -Westfield shop doesnt list them -does anyone out there have a pair they want to sell to me -or does anyone make them perhaps .

+1

Not fitted mine yet and you have to buy the hinges seperately.
I bought mine off a fellow wscc member smile

I've always wondered how well these things worked.I always intended to get some when i had my westfeild. I found driving without the doors near impossible! I see cobras tend to use them as well.

i had them on my caterham and worked fine up to 60 mph -without doors i couldnt breathe -much nicer without the doors -actually will try to get some half doors as well as deflectors -not keen on aeroscreens as really need to wear a lid to be safe from bits of debris and bird strikes where i live

Can I suggest Polycarbonate as opposed to perspex as perspex will shatter if hit by a hard object at speed where as poly carbonate is the stuff they make riot shields from.

And if you think sidescreens wont get hit at high speed youve never been alongside a truck when a stone has squeezed out from under the tyre at the side. Lost my passenger window to exactly this, scared the crap out of me

There is a grade of Perspex known as "High Impact Acrylic ",this is used in aircraft canopies etc;(I know you don't get a lot of stones in the air but there are hailstones !) naturally the price is higher ,but what price safety?
Personally I would avoid polycarbonates ie Makrolon,Lexan etc; as they will craze when exposed to various solvents including hydrocarbons(fuel) .

first i would have said ebay, too.

but why not fabricate them yourselves? no skills, no tools? ok...sell the kitcar!!!

unfortunately good working side deflectors look relatively big and will need to go much more down than the ones offered at ebay. more down, why? the further down they go the less turbulence you will get..especially your ellbow is protected against bursitis (i drove a few hundred of miles recently without ANY doors nor deflectors, well dressed and i know why i´m telling this)
