Another Wind Question
Discussion
Morning all.
Do any of you know if any of the it car manufactures or part suppliers make a wind deflector to fit by the rear roll hoops to help reduce the buffeting a bit?
I have looked on ebay but they all seem car specific.
Idealy its for my Tiger but i guess any kit car one could be bodged to fit.
Thanks

You could try Soft Bits for Sevens who make a draught reducer for Caterhams. It should be possible to make it fit or you could ask them to modify one for you. It is designed to fit to seat headrests so if you don't have those then I guess it won't work.
When i had my striker I made my own deflector. i used a piece of polycarb sheet and four what I call terry clips. I cut the poly sheet the same profile as the roll bar and then used the terry clips to clip it to the roll bar. Might have a picture at home but its a fairly simple thing to make and made a whole world of difference.

I've never seen a picture but Frank Costin mounted a device, based on a Townend Ring, around the windscreen of a Seven which reduced buffetting. Colin Chapman wouldn't let him do aerodynamic drag testing as he didn't approve of such things then.
It's mentioned in the book "Flying on four wheels".

Thanks, I was going to try it with a piece of polycarb but i had presumed there was a reason all the proper ones were mesh..Edited by thescamper on Tuesday 19th May 12:47
I shall wander down to Hornbach tonight and see if i can find some.

Ps. Thanks to the other poster for the soft bits for sevens link i am going to ring them later

Not all of them. Porsche fit a small piece of transparent polycarbon between the two roll bars of the Boxster and only charge £213 for it. Bargain!
