A8 v8 4.2 ecu parameter control remapping

I am currently heavily into researching a replica build using the excellent Audi 4.2 v8 as a powerplant.
My problem is the ecu, it talks to the quattro automatic transmission. The engine will be getting an Audi 6 speed manual transmission, I need to severe all comms to the auto ecu without affecting the performance of the engine's ecu.
I'm not interested in high performance, as the OEM will suffice, with a little remapp.
Does anyone know if it can be done, if so who by and where?
This has been giving me a real headache as a performace ecu will set me back around £1500 (including dyno mapping for the engine)
