Different Fury \ Phoenix GRP body
Discussion
Hi all.
Its gone now but there was a blue Fury \ Phoenix for sale that had a 'Le man' body which looked really nice. Below are some other ones I noticed. Are these custom becasue I cant find them for sale. If anyone has a pic of the blue le man car ill say if it is the one or not (although im sue you have all seen it!). Have any of you got different bodies on a fury that is commercially available? I dont really like the standard body because its too high of the ground at the back (ground clearence) and too rounded at the corners on the front. I would like it more aggressive. Thanks for any input!

The yellow car has a "classic" bonnet, available in "V8 big bulge" or BEC variations too. I think that is a BEC bonnet, originally moulded from Andy Charlsey's Hayabusa race car incorporating the air intake. The blue car has the "Le Mans" bonnet. Ruari's black Cosworth powered Fury there has a special bonnet similar to the Striker Clubmans, (early Phoenix) which i do not think is readily available nowdays. But somebody will have the mould somewhere. A lot is personal taste, but the Le Mans bonnet cannot be run as low as a classic, it will rub the inner headlight bowl before the Classic does. But generally it does not cause a problem.

My Phoenix/Clubmans has this bonnet (...and I'll happily sell the car if offered a sensible amount of money!). It was known as the 'downforce' bonnet and was designed to reduce lift when racing. My understanding is that the moulds were effectively wrecked when the Phoenix project spent some time in the hands of a slightly dodgy character (who I will refrain from naming), because he cut the wheel arch and rear edge returns off the moulds.Paul Drawmer said:
I'm guessing, but are the headlights on the 'classic' too low for SVA and maybe MOT?
Correct - have a look at what Dan Bromilow's done to get his through SVA:

I never knew that! I though jacking the ride height up was enough!
