Don't do it.

There's a whole raft of regulations about lighting. Whilst there's nothing to stop you having 4 dipped beams, they must all be at the right height, I'm guessing that your existing fog lights are low, so regardless of the beam pattern, you may only use them either with main beam, or 'in conditions of reduced visibility'.

If the beam pattern of the new lights is not dipped then they will dazzle any oncoming traffic. Just like the muppets who drive around with their fog lights on, thinking they are "driving lamps".

In a 4 headlamp setup, it is allowable to have all four of them on if they have a dipped beam pattern. It isn't against C&U regs, but oncoming motorists will assume that you haven't dipped, even if they aren't being dazzled. I had a car with 4 5" headlamps and changed them so that they all had twin filament bulbs and dipped/main lenses. Then I had four on dipped , and four on main.

Yes, if it's foggy, if it isn't then you will dazzle the oncoming traffic and it is illegal.

Is this because your headlights aren't any good; or because you want to look like a <insert another word for muppet>?

@Kitcar...:

what car you are talking about?

nothing against "more" light for YOU...but if they dazzle any oncomming traffic its unsafe (even for you) and illegal.

I have got a Quantum Saloon,
Some modern cars have now got 4 lights/
Im not even sure if i can use my Fog lights as spot lights.
Because i think they are supposed to be Spot lights anyway.

To be legal to use with dipped beam, the lights have to be at headlamp height.

If your lights are low and on the bumper, they will be illegal to use with dipped beam unless they are fog lights, and then only when there is significantly reduced visibility.
