blacktop Zetec water temp sensor question?
Discussion
In the process of removing my Silvertop from my Tiger Supercat and putting in a new blacktop.
my question is:
the new Zetec we are putting in the cat. The temp sensor on the water pump is blanked off? where as the Silvertop you have the sensor on the water pump the Blacktop has this blanked off
Any idea's where if possible the sensor needs to go? if at all?
A link to anyone website would be very handy

On my blacktop the temperature sender is just below the inlet manifold near the front of the engine. I'm using a Raceline water rail on my Ginetta so that allows fitting of a separate temperature sender on the housing.
Will have a look there. and as for it being by the thermo hosusing thats where I thought it would have been but not on my blacktop. As for the raceline water rail, any good? I ask as I have ordered teh pully kit for the water pump to run the wrong way on my new Zetec, the Alternator mounting kit and alreadys have the Sump from Raceline. only downer is I ordered the stuff last Monday and was told it would be with me by Thurs. but nothing yet. and could have done with the parts on Sat

I bought the engine from them (new) plus the 160 bhp upgrade kit including inlet manifold for twin 45's water rail, sump pan, alternator kit, Omex ignition and loom. Very ncie people to deal with and very helpful but so laid back it's unbelievable. If you ring them and remind them you'll probably get your bits next day.I'm still waiting for the Weber throttle pot but that's not their fault. I am still waiting for an alternator pulley and belt.
Regarding the water rail, its very good quality and looks the biz. Only slight issue is the front mounting hole isn't the same on the blacktop so they provide a small bracket to make up the difference which spoils the look slightly. Having said that, I'd be reluctant to spend that much money again for the benefit gained. All it basically does is move the thermostat housing and top hose nearer the front. If you've got no clearance issues I'd stick with the standard housing. My mate did on his Westie and it looks fine.
interesting this, as I'm doing the same (replacing a shot silver top with a black top) I also have raceline sump + water rail...was really hoping to buy a new engine rather than a scrapyard jobbie.
So my question is (sorry to go slightly OT) how much shoul i expect to pay for a new black top and where's the best place to get one?
cheers

Raceline will charge you 800 but shortly after buying mine I saw various companies at the Newark kitcar show selling them for between 625 -675. Sorry I didn't get their names, I didn't hang around to tell them how much I'd paid.g32turbo said:

more help needed. I got the small sender on the front of the engine, under where I have the carbs. which has a small black wire and joiner on. I have unscrewed this sensor and there is a large metal probe that goes into the engine black. so hoping this is the right sensor. but when trying to put the wire which I had on the old silvertop to the thermostat this does not do anythign and does not show me the engine temp on my dash what have I done wrong?
Also the rad fan now kicks in and does not stop which it always did before. using the sensor on the rad the fan kicked in at 92 deg and turned off at 88deg
help
apart from that the engine runs well
