I need of any info relating to bike engine kit cars.

I'm helping a mate gather information on anything bike engine kit car related for a board on a bike forum. We have a few people with various makes of 7's who are also bikers and they need some information regarding built, tech info etc...

So we thought as this forum is bike Tech baised it might be handy to be a bit flexible and include any helpful bike related engine info for kit cars.
Looking for info regarding installing the engine, Ecu mods, wiring etc....

Best off contacting a company like MK who make the Indy. They might put something together for you for the free publicity they will get. Its quite straightforward to install a bike engine in a car, no harder than a car engine one you have all the bits in front of you.

I have a question

Would it be worth buying a complete bike, breaking it to use engine, wiring loom, instruments etc, then selling the rest of the parts on ebay?

A 2 year old R1 that has very light crash damage is around £2500. Sounds like a good idea to me.

you say that but my mate bought a R1 engine for £600 and look for under £100 for his track bike R1 he built. Best bet is to see what parts are selling for and then go from there. if you can pick up a cheap bike and makes some £££ then go for it

This site hasn't been update for ages but shows the build of the car from start until post SVA if that is any help?

I'm not sure what info you want though, you don't make it too clear.

You could give Andy Bates a ring at AB performance, he's been putting bike engines into kit cars for quite a while now. He sponsors the RGB championship and has a very good reputation.

If you want R1 stuff then I've got a fair bit on my web site:
http://www.robcollingridge.com/kitcar/

Includes all the wiring loom stuff for the 2003 R1.

First you need to choose whatt he use is.

Due to limited diff ratios available, you're much better off sticking with the chain drive on a mid mounted design.

For example, I've got a R1 front engined RWD with prop and diff, max speed only 120mph at 12,000 rpm. Not too bad, but at 70mph on the m/way still doing 7,000 rpm which is very draining!! I end up cruising at 55-60 most of the time just to keep the shaking and noise down.

Any idea of your budget? If you have more money than God, you can always spunk £25,000 on a Hayabusa V8 pushing out 455 bhp!!!

edited to change the deliberate mistake of a V9 engine

Cheers Pete for the feedback. I'm not helping a mate built a bike engine kit car. just trying to get information for a bike forum as there are a few people asking about general info on bikes/parts etc... And as there are a few on this fourm and we are a Tech baised forum for all bike related information it might be handy to have a board on bike engine kit cars

If you intrested at all in the board it's only just been opened as we are trying to gather info. But feel free to post your exprances of you build in the board if you want
