Hi All,

Due to soon having enough space I plan to build my 1st kit car.

Ever since reading about the SEight, many years ago back in NZ, I've always wanted one. The thing is, is it (the Dax) better (in kit form) than the Westfield?

I know there are many variables with regards to final spec, however I'm wondering about which company has the better product, customer service etc...

Many thanks,

DTC

When I started thinking about building a Rush V8 I wondered the same thing. I thought the Rush looked better and I liked that it wasn't trying to be a Caterham. People seemed to fit silly engines to them and the owners were all friendly. There's a great community on the Dax Sporting Club forum and a lot of us know each other in "real life" too. The forum can be found here. If you wanted to talk to Dax themselves then give Simon at the factory a call. Don't wait for them to reply to their email as only about 25% of it seems to make it through to them.

I would say that a Rush V8 would be a harder build but you would end up with a more unique car. There are a lot fewer Rushs about and they tend to be built to suit the builder's preferences. Westfield V8s all tend to look the same to me but as a result of that they're easier to assemble and you'll probably be on the road quicker. I'm not 100% sure but I think they'd only supply the SEight as a rolling chassis too. It's been years since I've looked though.

Here's a video of mine (mainly for the noise smile ).
