R1 fuel injection problem??
Discussion
Hi all
We've had the 2003 5pw R1 engine fitted with a power commander and its been set up by a specialist. I am finding that there is some hesitation then a surging feeling when coming off the throttle then back on quickly. It seems to happen around 8k rpm but its hard to say if its at the same throttle position each time it happens.
I've spoken to the engine tuner and he has said it could be fuel starvation (happens with a full tank on a straight road), faulty pump or faulty fuel pressure regulator.
Any ideas?
Could it be the power command fuel map?
Cheers.

Have you got a breather in the fuel tank? or try www.locostbuilders.co.uk

err, I know there is a 'roll over valve' fitted, not sure about a breather.Edited by RT Phil on Thursday 13th August 20:56
I'll check it out.
Cheers
I've found that I always seem to have positive pressure in the tank (have a breather cap though), so I removed my separate breather valve.
I have been using a zero map in my PowerCommander too for two years but, its far from ideal for a BEC install. I was given a map developed on a rolling road session on a very similar car to mine and its transformed the pickup and smoothness of the engine. There seems to be more torque and it runs about 4-5 degrees cooler too. Doesn't pop on over run all the time now either.
