Steering rack needed
Discussion
thought the Tiger was ready for the MOT after the engine change but it failed the MOT today due to a knackered steering rack which needs to be replaced, which amazed me as it's only 4 years old and done 8k. was bought from Tiger in 03 as the last of there quick racks they sold with the Supercat kit. Have Phoned tiger and they don't sell these anymore
So anyone have any idea where I can get a quick rack for the Supercat apart from just tiger.
cheers in advance

Any idea what vehicle the rack is originally sourced from? Lots of kits used the Escort Mk2 rack, a 2.4 turn version of these is available for £91.50 + VAT from Rally Design.

dont expect a premium-quality purchasing such aftermarket racks like from RD(the tiger ones are the same).
all these aftermarket racks have 1 in common: they are cheap.
That's probably fair comment. In my case though I'll be pretty thrilled if I get to wear this one out! I seem to keep bending them all these aftermarket racks have 1 in common: they are cheap.

The recon rack for my Tiger Cat (a Sierra one) didn't last 1500 miles.
The actual rack and pinnion components will I'm sure, still be o/k, (usually it's just the tie bar inner ball joints that wear).
I would contact a local independant motor factor, and ask them to send it away to be reconditioned for you.
Most of them will do this, and most rack reconditioners will be able to source the parts needed.
If you cant get this done, email me, As I'm fairly sure I can give you the address of one that you can send it to.

I mean a decent reconditioner.

If you contact your local Independent Motor Factor,ie one the local motor trade uses, they will usually be able to supply the ball joint /steering arm as an aftermarket replacement, the rack and pinions / bushes in the ends of the rack tube rarely wear out in such lightly loaded vehicles (not in 4K miles anyway!),the bearings on the pinion shafts can be replaced quite easily as well.
