Bike Engine - Small Car
Discussion
Sorry the title is a bit duff,
I have been looking at the Zcars website and really fancy a rwd small car, Mini/Fiat 126/205Pug etc...
While I like the modular easy fit design of the zcars setup, the price is steep imho.
Whats the alternative similar type kits on the market utilising a rear mounted subframe to mount a bike engine. Or for that matter who has done a home build rwd setup as I would appreciate some pics..
any build threads/links or whatever would help.
I understand autograss racers like a rwd bec, but that hasnt helped me any further.
Yes tin top maybe....
Just fancy something different. It cannot be that complicated to build a bike engine cradle into the back of a small car.
Fiat 126 - cheap to purchase @ £650-£800, fit in a single garage, simple construction for fabricating sections up if needed.

Something like this would do nicely

Chris at z-cars did some work for me on my westy. Whilst I was there he showed me round some of his kits and one off specials.I have been looking at the Zcars website and really fancy a rwd small car, Mini/Fiat 126/205Pug etc...

His kits are expensive because, in terms of quality of engineering and finish, they are so far ahead of any other kit manufacturer (Caterham included). Take the quality of their frame finishes. They use a super-tough multi layer finish on all their tubing which means unlike caterham and westy et al they don't rust within six months on exposed components.
Take a visit to their factory and judge for yourself - he's usually happy to take prospective buyers out for a spin.
Although I'd never own another BEC, I'd certainly have one their CTR powered minis.
