Hawk Stratos. Top Gear. 29/11
Discussion
Just a heads up to say that Clarkson has recently driven a Hawk Stratos Grp4 Alitalia liveried Stratos replica as part of a review of Lancia cars which is due to be broadcast on the Sunday 29th November edition of Top Gear.
The car is to due to return to the Top Gear track on the 25th for a timed lap by The Stig.
Here's hoping for a dry track.

I was looking for Hawk replicas on the web yesterday. I guess this pushes them even further away from affordable.

Cars are more likely to be offered for sale on this, the Strato's website forum before anywhere else.

Should be interesting, wonder if they'll admit to the fact it's a kit or if they'll try and pass it off as a Lancia?
(Hasten to add, I only say that because of the mainstream media's usually dismissive take on kits and low volume manufacturers...)
I'm genuinely surprised by that comment Chris mate.(Hasten to add, I only say that because of the mainstream media's usually dismissive take on kits and low volume manufacturers...)

Why would they 'lie' about the provenance of the car?
I'm sure the owner of the car would be really annoyed if he were to be implicated in such a deceit. And what's there to gain for Top Gear in 'passing it off' as something that it's not?
Furthermore, Clarkson has driven Hawk replicas before. There's a You Tube clip of him driving on back in what seems by the look of his youthful features, the early '90s.
In it he exclaims to the owner that 'It's the most heterosexual car' he'd ever driven.

In the show he and Hampster drive an original Stradale too.

More too the point, how the holy hell did he get in and out of it? I've never tried yours Blib for fear of rupturing something important.
Well, Glassman managed to get in my car * and he's the fattest b
d in North London! *** Took him five minutes to get out again.
**Allegedly.

[back pedal]I was just thinking that kits tend to get quite a bad press (not from us I'll hasten to add, I've written several very nice articles about them
) - things like TG's alleged refusal to allow an Ultima onto the track. I'd be very chuffed to see them start covering kits and other low volume cars, but when you said it was a review of Lancia cars I wondered if maybe they weren't able to find an original Stratos for the item...[/back pedal]

Top Gear have never refused to test the Ultima, they just haven't taken the factory up on the offer.
There is a piece on the Ultima forum about this with a statement from the Ultima factory.
