is this car also so clean and tidy in the flesh, incl. underneath and inside?

(already contacted the seller, but no really helpful info in this matter)

its overpriced in my optinion, but a friend of mine is interested and asked me to collect some infos.

ok, lets see it from another side: my friend is searching a car which is nearly perfect. cables, brakepipes, enginebay everything must look absolutely tidy and the car must be in perfect nick (technically and visually). chassis must be clean and spot on, no oil-leaks from engine, gearbox and axle (believe me its possible)!! so he is willing to pay more money for that.

so is this car representing such an example or does it only look good on the pictures?

It does look nice, but in my experience a lot of cars look good in the pictures. You can't replace showing up to look at it in person. and for that kind of scratch, at leak-down and compression test might be useful.

Certainly looks nice, and I don't think its too pricey if its what he's looking for.

If your pal is thinking about racing it, he should note that the kit car championship is moving to Zetec/Duratec classes only after next season.

It may need a Catalyst fitted too if it is going to be raced in 2010, not 100% sure but check it out.

That is a lot of money for a Mk4 Clubman. Certainly a clean car but you could get a serious bike engined Phoenix or Fury for that money.

That front splitter could be fun on the road (spped bumps and the like) and a 140bhp crossflow could be a noise issue on commercial track days, surely? It does look quite smart, but I would expect a very good Zetec/4AGE/BEC Fury for that sort of price. For an old-tech Phoenix it would, IMHO, have to be beyond immaculate.

due to registration-law reasons the car must have a date of 1st reg before june1991 and a car-engine. so no actual reg-dates or bike engines.

preferable it should be a sylva phoenix, rather than a fisher, as the body shape is different: the fisher bodies are "straigt" on the side panals, the sylva ones are "waisted" and look more favourable and therefore nicer.

The car in the advert is a Sylva Striker Mk4 Clubman, the Phoenix name is normally associated with this body type

which is my car although the Mk4 Clubman as in the advert has become known as the Phoenix as well.

@jeff...yes, i know about this matter of the different types of body and how they are named, also the confusion of the names, which happens sometimes.

preferable the car should also have 7inch headlamps.

summary:

the following car is searched:
sylva clubman or phoenix (ok, eventuellay also a fisher)
speedster screen, no doors
preferable 7inch headlamps
car-engine
reg-date before july 1991
standard instrumnetation with round dials and gauges (no digi-dash)
technically and visually in top-nick!!

Potentially I could get over to Sussex to see the car if it is something you are interested in.

thats very kind from you. how far do you need to drive?

as the seller is a dealer, also from all the other cars he sells, i pressume the car is not located at his house.

I think it is probably worth a look. The x-flow is a motor full of character, and frankly perfect for road driving in my opinion.

The colour scheme is good; the Clubman is a 'looker' in my opinion too.

Good luck!

It's not clear where in Sussex he is. If it is East Sussex then it is 30-50 miles away. To be honest though you would be better getting the guy to take more photos or video and then come across and see for yourself.
