Kit Car Crisis.

Did anyone watch this?
I've seen it a few times and thought i'd ask on here if firstly the guy who's name escapes me (Lee?) is a PHer. The series said he's a divorcee, so maybe.
Anyway i thought the build was in essence very good, some very expensive parts, but i was wondering how the guy got on? THe series ended with him doing some races etc.
Who's got the skinny?

seen the 1st few an the guy might be nice but seems to be a fool with a few quid to waste, went to show, sat in a car an bought it an got it home an found his 8k engine wouldnt fit without a few minor mods.So he goes out an gets another car ! seems to have someone holding his hand for every bit he fits an he still manages to muck it up its a bit sad as it could of been a good show an good pr for kits
Thats the one with the crane and everything! A bit like a top gear challenge - ambitious but doomed to fail. Im no expert but before my build id done a lot of auto diy where a it looked like he didnt have a clue and i just dont get how when you have no skills you choose a car that is complicated and has never been proven. Good show though for those of us interested in kit cars when there isnt really much out there.
And i think his name was Mark?

Just my personal opinion but I don't think that show did the kit car cause any good at all.
For a first build the owner was far too ambitious in terms of the car he chose, the modifications he was making and his deadlines. He was clearly out of his depth at times and had to rely heavily on other people. The programme on wiring was definitely not his finest hour (30 mins actually)
The worst aspect though was the overall slant of the program, which seemed to be that the problems were the fault of the kit rather than the inexperienced builder.
I have spoken to one or two suppliers involved in making the programme and generally they were not happy with the finished result.
The Mark Evans Pilgrim and Westfield builds show the industry in a much better light in my opinion.

He also suffered from the "I wouldn't start from here" syndrome - he wanted to get into racing bike-engined cars, but had no experience. He originally owned a kit car that would have been perfect for conversion - he really should have converted that one, spent a season getting to understand what's needed, THEN built a high-class car.
It must be said that although he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, the production company seemed to put a lot of effort into making him look extra stupid... lots of kit car builders make dumb mistakes, but we do them in private!
The Mark Evans programs did put kit building in a much better light - but they were heavily set up and a lot happened off-camera to achieve his results. For example, with the racing Westfield it seemed like the entire staff of Westfield were available to help lift stuff about...

The whole thing was a written-for-tv farce, aimed at the general public, rather than car type people, and laced with the inevitable deadlines, dramas, personal tragedies, failures and disappointments.
Coronation street with a car in. Eastenders with an automobile plot.
The guy had zero experience, or engineering knowledge, and I inevitably turned it off in frustration half way through every episode I tried to watch!

I have been watching this series on TV and was disapointed at what seems to happen at the end ,Nothing.Does anyone know if there was another series or did the car ever get finished and track ready ? ,did Mark get any good as a driver?was there supposed to be another series? was this just a ljoke and nothing happened at all?.
Having watched all the episodes I would like to know what happened.

Hi All.
I think that all the people who helped out and suppliers were let down, the kit car industry needs all the support it can get and programs like this just don't help, the suppliers must have been surprised by how it turned out (don't think there would have been a preview).
The guy from dominator cars must have put a lot of time and effort into making his kit car, to see it turn out like it did, he must have been gutted.
Let's hope the next program on building a kit car will be researched a bit better and built to a standard that encourages others to build a kit car.
