Hi.
I’m thinking of building a Tiger Super Cat and was wondering if anyone on here has built one and can answer a few questions.
· How easy was it and were there any build issues?
· How were Tiger to deal with?
· Has anyone put theirs through the new IVA yet and did it throw up any problems?
· Were there any problems registering it?
· What does it perform like? Difficult I know, because of the different engine choices.
· What would you do differently if you built a second one?
Think that will have to do for now.
Thanks in advance.
Luke

I built one (SVA'd in March 2008) a few years ago with limited mechanical knowledge at the time....
I should think the trickiest part for me was getting the engine to fit.. the tiger cat engine bay (on my car.. it may have changes now) is quite small so alternator positioning etc can be quite a pain... again planning ahead and not having brake pipes etc in that area helps.
A plethora of useful information and help can be found here.. www.tigerownersclub.co.uk and if you do have a problem someone on there will have had it first.
Apart from that no issues other than DVLA / VOSA losing my paperwork.
Though if I did it again, apart from not making the same mistakes twice I'd build a more track orientated car.. more power, lighter weight etc etc - more £££ basically.
Oh and sidescreens.... make a huge difference
The biggest piece of advice I could give would be to decide exactly what you are going to do with it once its built. i.e if you want a track car, remember that all the way through the build.
Hope that helps and as mentioned.. see the tiger owners club website for more help.
Good luck.

Not easy per se but by no means difficult. Certain areas require a bit more planning and time than others but. I think if you research things properly rather than diving in you should be ok.I’m thinking of building a Tiger Super Cat and was wondering if anyone on here has built one and can answer a few questions.

No Problems at all... always been very helpful. I can recommend you pay them a visit at their Peterborough base to talk through options etc, go for a test ride.Luke_D said:

People have but I cant help you here... see website aboveLuke_D said:

You hear different things from different areas... For instance mine passed the SVA but I still wasnt allowed to drive it to the DVLA station for a simple 2 minute VIN inspection!!! So I had to either arrange a call out / trailer it to them which was a pain.Apart from that no issues other than DVLA / VOSA losing my paperwork.

I've only got a piffling 113bhp in mine but I built a Sunday cruiser not a track car. Its still plently fast enough to frighten passengers though.Luke_D said:

Go injection.. Carbs are a faff and apparently Weber make everything from various grades of cheese so they keep falling apart.Though if I did it again, apart from not making the same mistakes twice I'd build a more track orientated car.. more power, lighter weight etc etc - more £££ basically.

I also own one, but bought it second hand, so can't comment on ease or not of build. Would echo the above, Tiger are easy to deal with, have ordered a few parts from them and always helpful.
Would i build one? no, purely because for me i dont have the time or patience, or come to that the knowledge - i put petrol in it and thats about my limit! But i also suspect that i'd be able to get a good example for whatever i was spending on the build, the only advantage being that when its finished, it would be spec'd exactly as you'd want as the builder.
Driving/performance - yep, really pleased, got a 230bhp zetec in mine running throttle bodies. I get in it, it fires up, no messing about with getting the fueling right for the carbs, very tractable - and quick.
