A recent thread in the trackday section has really got me thinking:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Because German road law applies to the Nurburgring since it's a public toll road, 3rd party liability applies. Any policy that specifically excludes the Nurburgring or de-restricted toll roads means that if for example you blew up your engine, and oil got on the track, any cars which crash as a result are entitled to claim from you. This is why police always attend any accident involving more than 1 vehicle - to establish blame.

If your policy excludes the Nurburgring, your insurer will still pay out to the 3rd parties, but they will then sue you for the full settlement. Read more here: http://www.leeds-solicitors.com/nurburgring_insura...

Damage to my car and the track I can deal with. But what if you have an engine failure, drop some oil, and a biker gets seriously injured, or a Carrera GT spins and crashes? You could be paying off the settlement for the rest of your life!

Anyone know of any insurers which do not specifically exclude the Nurburgring in 3rd party terms for kit cars? It's really put me off going, and I'm heading there again in less than 2 months!

Larry,

Apart from insuring a German car at a germance residence, I my self as an Insurance professional cannot find any way in which you can ge insurance for a UK car for Third party damage where the insurer will not come "after you" having paid out on the damages on your behalf first.

A massive worry of mine too come July 23rd!
