Hi All,

Decided to get myself a track day / sunday drive toy but not of the supercar variety, something that will give more thrills £ and less worry about damage and cost of running/depreciation.

I have always fancied a Westfield....SO.. having just annoyingly missed a lovely one on PH.

I am after a good spec, well built Westfield - with circa 200bhp and i do like them in black!

Anyone got one or see one for sale please let me know.
Thanks

Nick

Thanks, I have joined that.. but would appear you cannot post anything until you are a member, which states 28 days.. I guess it stops the numpty's but a little frustrating in the meantime.

Cheers

I believe you can still contact the sellers via the contact button if you are not yet a member.

Dont get to hung up on 200bhp. IMO.

As the Westfields are so light it is like 400bhp+ in a normal car. So unless you are racing another car with similar power to weight ratio....

Plus at that power you would be missing out on some of the bike engines.
Find out where the local WSCC meet is and go along, have a chat to the members, they may know of somebody thinking of selling their car but not yet on sale.

The Surrey WSCC branch meet at the Parrot Inn in Forest Green on the second Tuesday evening of the month if you want to nose at a few cars, also might be worth contacting the AO, he might know of cars locally that are for sale. See here.

Thanks email sent to Surrey organisers!

I know the pro's cons and questions around why 200bhp.. But like any car, you have to have a spec to go after and thats where i have set my sights. I know its not all about power, but my head says 200bhp ish! Not that I would get bored with less, it's a case of making sure i have some growing room and don't always wish i had more!. At least i didnt say 300bhp! now that would be silly! I drove a Caterham R400 and that seemed good to me, i then drove an R300 which was also good, but clearly i preferred the R400!. see?

Just spoke to Westfield. Really helpful guy Simon. Although my budget didnt match his desire to build me a new one to spec at £27k! :-)

Anyone with a black Westy, feel free to smother me in pics and specs so i get an idea of options etc PLEASE!

Thanks All..

Do you want new or old?

Do you want to build or have built?

I am not sure if you are thinking of a bike engine or car engine but if you wanted 200bhp a while back, I would have said ignore the figure, a CEC (car-engined car) at 200bhp will not be as fast as a BEC with 180bhp due to the extra weight of the car engine. A CEC is only really worthwhile (performance-wise) over a BEC with a fair bit more than 200bhp.

There is the ideal option for you though. The 2008 onwards Hayabusa is 197bhp or something like that. Look at the Westfield Megabusa. Either build/have built new with a 2008 onwards engine or buy used and put a 2008-on Hayabusa engine in yourself. That will be more reliable than modifying an older Busa engine too.

I would recommend either putting up with 180bhp (its perfectly fine believe me) or spend a bit more and get the newer engines.

Some good advice there, especially if you think you might prefer the BEC experience. If it was me, and I had to choose from the Westfield range, and I felt I needed that kind of power, I would have a Seight.

Cheers guys, get you on the relative power/weight of BEC vs CEC! took me a minute on the acronyms!!

For me, it has to be car engined. Reckon on 2.0 16v lump or as you say, may consider the seight but do like the idea of the higher revving, quicker gear change of the 4 pots.

I won't go new as over budget and too much depreciation! (£27k) my budget is flexible for the right car and am looking at anything between 8-15k.

Really appreciating the comments guys. I just sold my modded Land Rover Def 90, i actually preffered driving it to many other cars i have had.. why, cos i had to drive it!.. gear change. road position, driving position, concentrate. I was involved all the time! (didnt do corners as well as a Westy though!) Easy to get a fast car and drive it fast! I want to grow into something that i cannot tame on day 1!

Cheers

Nick

Yeah, don’t get hung up on 200bhp, you don’t need more than 155!

Don’t get hung up on black, yellow would be equally as good, plus gets you seen.

Do get hung up on Westfield cos their class and great value for money.

Don’t go for a BEC, you need something like a ‘cool beans’ 1800 Zetec!

Just my humble opinion!!!

Ps....
I have for sale a 155 bhp yellow Westfiled 1800 Zetec, but in no hurry as the sun was shining today ;-))
