Older Kit Cars

I have been looking at a westfield that has been offered to me for a good price however the car is from 1989. Is age much of a concern with kit cars as its the only the thing that concerns me, how much are they developed over time would a newer one be far quicker around a track if they had similar spec and same driver or would the times be comparable. Can it effect a dramatic on reliability?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1st of all is it an 89 car or age related plate ?

Its on a Q plate and I have been told that its a 89 car.
