Going by the saying that 'a kit car is never finished', surely there will be lots of people beavering away with their tools each week?? So what are you doing?

I'll start, new rebuilt gearbox (heavy right foot), new clutch and light flywheel on my Libra. Not looking forward to doing it but should drive much better than it does currently!!

Anyone else busy??

Just finished swapping my old 1.8 Silver Top Zetec engine for a shiny new 2.0 Black top. This has finally finshed off the last of the life in the starter motor though! New starter then three days driving on the West coast of Scotland planned for next week.

I've really been in the garage too long this summer though.

Collecting the car from having its exhaust done tomorrow at last, then i've got to take the engine out(hard working shifting an m3 lump and box on your own!) Fit the clutch and flywheel/valve clearances/twin pickup oil pump and sump.

While the motors out fit the braided brake lines/copper fuel lines.

Then engine back in, fit cooling system(oil and water).

Obviously not all in one day!

Just fitted a new side panel to aid cooling in the engine bay (fingers crossed anyway!) and waiting for the fabricator to cut another piece of work that will then be fitted around the radiator to aid the cooling (basically it's a scoop!). Then it's a case of check every nut/bolt to make sure everything is secure before tracking it on Sunday.

Yes! Bit pointless on the road though unless I want to loose my license.

Don't forget to keep the VIN plate and cut out the piece of chassis with the number stamped in.
DVLA have been known to challenge whether the donor has actually been scrapped. If you can slap both bits on the counter along with some photos it will make all the difference.

I sold my westy and bought an EVO RS. It may as well be a kitcar for all the jobs they need doing to them.

Oil and filter change for me.

I did my work last weekend - got the alternator working, and then did a bit of work rewiring the right hand front lights where water had got in to some of the contacts, corroding them.
