Whatever became of Peter Filby?
Discussion
When I used to read just about every kit car mag available, up to about 8 or 9 years ago, Peter Filby seemed to be the most common journalist, and a major authority on kit cars in general. But recently browsing through current kit mags, Filby seems to have disappeared from the scene. Does anybody know what happened to him?
He was the owner of Which Kit Car? magazine until he sold it to new owners in January 2007. The new owners (being Ian Stent and Justin Williams, both of whom already worked on the magazine) relaunched it as Complete Kit Car with the May 2007 issue.
Since selling the magazine, Peter has spent his time writing his book, "TVR - The Early Years", which has just be launched. It's a reworking of his 1970s book, "Success Against The Odds", copies of which now change hands for several hundred pounds. The new version has been hugely updated following those three-plus years of painstakingly thorough research. It has already been met with critical acclaim - it's Book of the Month in this month's Octane magazine, for instance.
