Westfield XTR2 advice, please
Discussion
Hi, I am considering building a Westfield XTR2 for track and occasional road use (mostly to be driven to and from track days). Just wondering if anyone on here had built one, or if not, even driven one, and what your thoughts would be?
I've also looked at the Spire and the AGM WLR, but the reason I'm favouring the Westfield is that it seems more of a complete kit (I don't have the space to break up a donor car).
Anyway any thoughts most welcome, thanks in advance, John

I was fortunate enough to have some passenger laps in one of the early development cars at MIRA. Having just bought a megabird with all the bells and whistles I guess I was their target market.
During the day it broke, so Westfield rolled out one of their race CEC series "sevens". I was therefore fortune to have a direct comparison between the two - albeit from the passenger seat.
I have to say even as a passenger it was not as much fun as the seven. It is faster through the bends - impressively so - but with the aero you lose a lot of which makes a KC fun. It just didn't have the adjustability of the seven and didn't seem to encourage you to play with the throttle in the corners. Even their driver seemed to be enjoying himself more in the seven.
As a race car I would imagine they're epic, as a road and TD car it left me cold, and not wanting to have a go.
That said, judge for yourself. The appeal of picking a westy for me was that they put their money where their mouth is and allow you to have a go around Curborough sprint track. This was what sold me on the seven. A sublime blend of outright pace and hooligan tail out action if you want it.

Echo what Rhino said, I have been in a similar Radical around Brands and while mightily impressive andH fast, the fun factor had completely gone for me. Too fast, too much grip, and with the aero any accident was going to be sudden and painful. And most of your lap is passing slower cars and anticipating what the hell they are going to do when they see you. Call me a baby, but 150mph is too dangerous for me on a track. Climbing back into my Fury Fireblade after it , it was a revelation.
Hi John
I love my XTR2 and use it on the track and on the road. It's one of the factory demonstrators (the press car) so I didn't build it myself but have modified/upgraded it extensively.

To begin with it was somewhat difficult to drive 'quickly' on the track but after a few trackdays and some professional instruction I was flying.
It is unbelievable amounts of fun and after running the mornings solo I generally spend the afternoons at trackdays taking people for rides. NOTE: Passengers MUST keep the helmet visor down to contain any puke
We are probably spoilt down here with how cheap and uncrowded trackdays are and how wide and safe the tracks are in comparison to some I've seen in the UK.
Unfortunately the best resource for information on building XTR2s, the XTR2Net Forum, has been down for a few months since the server died. We are keeping in touch on the WSCC Forum, just include XTR2 in the Topic heading and we should find it.
If you have any specific questions I'd be happy help if I can.
