Does anyone know if Sylva or anyone else is still making the Mojo? I can't see any info on their site and no luck with a google search either.

Been looking at these for past few days and I think I loosely have the wifes approval!

Has anyone on here built one or have experience of them? From the info I've gleaned it can use a varitity of engines but on the stingray website it mentions an embalance in the handling?? Can anyone shed some light on the best engine option, i was interested in the toyota 4age.

This would be the first car I've ever built and to be honest I had originally thought of going the TVR route but now I just fancy something thats is unique.

I would suggest you get yourself along to a kit car show and have a good mosey round. Stafford is this coming weekend, stoneliegh is the largest on the KC calender, but is on may bank holiday. There are a few on here with mojos, no doubt they will be along at some point and add thier comments.

Hello! Good to see someone looking to build a Mojo...

I built mine 6 years ago and have now covered over 33k miles in mine, see www.mymojo.co.uk for the full build story etc. I'll happily answer any questions, I'll also be at the Stafford kit car show on Sunday 19th Sept if you can make it over.

The handling is typical mid engined car, not as driftable as a 7 but still very good.

Mine runs an iron block Zetec E motor which gives about 40:60 front to rear weight distribution. Cars with all alloy engines (the Zetec SE is the favoured fitment in later Mojos) have slightly more even distribution.

I know Matthew Beardshaw who runs MEGGT, who bought the project off Sylva a couple of years ago - he built his own Mojo shortly after me, before buying the manufacturing rights.

Take a look at the Mojo gallery pages on my website for an idea of the different engines that have gone into Mojos over the years. 4AGE is certainly an option that has been done before, as well as VTECs, K-series and Ford Zetec (E & SE)...

God I'm knackered! Spent till nearly 2am reading your build blog! Excellent read.

It looks great by the way. seriously nice looking car. thumbup

So would you say its a good first time build? I like the idea of one purely because it isn't a 7. As good as they are I fancy something different and the mojo is definatly it.

Some odd questions for you, what size tank is it running? eg, do you get a decent range from it? Also, do you think it would be possible to fit an adjustable drivers seat to it as i'm nearly 6ft and my darling wife is only 5ft 2in !!

I see in your blog that you required the steering shaft and sump etc to be modified by sylva, are meggt going to offer this service do you know or will I maybe have to contact sylva?

I was very torn between this and the Riot, the wife had the final say as she thought the Mojo would be more useable as a regular car we could take trips in.

Think I could be set to be honest, finish off the mk1 golf then the garage is going mojo!!

Glad the website kept you reading ;-)

Glad you like the car - they look much better in the flesh!

It was my first build, having done nothing much more than brake pad changes on cars before that. It was a straight forward build, I'd happily do it again given the time...

I completely share your opinion of liking the Mojo just because it isn't a 7 - and still love it to this day. They are a pretty rare breed...

The fuel tank is approx 22litres, I get 160 miles from that, so it's fine for longer distances.

As for seating, I'm 6'2" and use the standard Sylva/Meggt seats, which are just vinyl trimmed foam sections fitted to thin plywood. Sounds rudimentary but very comfy. However they rely on the backrest sitting against the bulkhead for support. You may just be able to fit some kind of removable spacer between the backrest and bulkhead to space things forward for your wife, or go to a self supporting seat, however just be wary that you really need your backside as close to the floor as possible so not sure if you'd get a seat on runners to work. Not saying it's impossible though, just depends on whether you are happy sitting that little bit higher relative to the screen.

Meggt will be able to sort out the mods for you I'm sure, in fact the sump mod is now not needed with the later SE cars (I think...) and I'm also pretty sure they are using a different steering column to mine as well...

The Mojo is definitely that bit more practical than the Riot, sidescreens make a big improvement to the every day usability, and a hood is available should you require it.

Great to hear your enthusiasm to get building! If you have further Qs feel free to email me direct, link is on the website...
