Murtaya on ebay
Discussion
I regularly peruse the ebay kit car section, and spotted this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2008-CARBON-SPEC-MURTAYA-2-5...
I'm sure I recognise it.

That thread has got a bit boring
for people not directly involved, so I thought a new thread would be appropriate.Edited by singlecoil on Wednesday 3rd November 08:30

10% that is a bargain!
Most of the extra original build price was due to the Carbon developmet for the Tub and of course suspension and engine spec added a significant value. You would never buy a new car to make money (well maybe a few of the mega cars before the waiting list gets too high and then you can sell for more)so it would be case of weighing up what you are prepared to loose or just keep.
Let's be honest the chances of it selling on eBay are very slim but a bit of advertising and awareness will be generated and then the next time it is lapping extremly well at a Track Day at least more people will know what it is and as the new company progresses that will bring the resale up a bit should the time come to have to sell.
Has to be similar value to a KTM, Atom, Sagaris etc IMHO but not as well known so real value is hard to place in the general market which I guess eBay will show to a certain degree.
We shall see - is a Rocket Ship though and unique

Actually no so someone could end up with a very well priced car LOL!
More a case of previous experience of car sales on eBay is that the buyer never contacts or as freinds have had in the past they come to then test drive or look at the car and try to haggle, why they didn't go to view before bidding is behond me but that seems to be the way it is. In 5 days time I guess we will all know
PS Kyle you still have your Ultima? Lovely bit of kit but fancy a change

hi Eddie
Yes i still have my Ultima..... a little more tuned than it used to be
I think Murtayas are great cars but i see them as a 25k car max, the pricing always seemed too high for what you got, imo. I was happy to build one at 20k ish but when i look back my gut instincts seemed to be correct for once. Good luck with the sale my friend, im sure its an awesome car for someone!!

so what if it sells for 10k? are you actually going to let it go for that?
Naturally I've had this question a lot on eBay and haven't posted them on the advert because it started with, "well if it only reaches £2.00 will you let me have it for that?"In fact at £2.50 it had already had 2 bids which means someone's maximum bid was £2.00!!!
At the end of the day with no reserve then it will go for what the winning bidder thinks it is worth but from the people who have come to look at the car I can't see it going that cheap.
I think a more realistic figure would be above what Kyle suggested because a "standard" Murtaya is worth about £25k second hand and this is far from standard, but on the same note I'm hoping people don't treat it like, for example a modified car, where the money is put in and doesn't actually add any value, because this car was engineered differntly from the start with the Carbon modified tub, access to the rear suspension being built in, reinforced subframes for the track, uprated brakes, suspension etc rather than it's just had a big turbo bolted on.
To be perfctly honest I don't think it will quite reach what I would like for it, as can be seen on Pistonheads, but then as long as it covers what I've got planned then that's a good chunk of capital towards it

Added of course by the fact that should it sell this time round the new owner will have one hell of a car at a fraction of the price it would have cost them to build it, so I'd hope they would be pretty happy too.
Go on then who is good with the rules am I contracted to sell it for that or if I don't do I get struck off from eBay etc?
Just asking out of interest
Let's be honest I figured as much earlier in the week because nobody really knows what it is and so it was never going to reach it's true value.
