I know it's a V8 and is the fastest round the TG track, but they're having a laugh surely if they think anyone's going to pay £150K for that pile of sticks.

Yeah, now what you mean - I'd have to have A LOT of money to go for that.

Interesting that Clarkson didn't disqualify it for being on R888's - when did he relax that rule????

thats what I thought, £150k!!! yikes

If it was my money, I'd spend about half that on a Ultima! or even less on a MEV or something!!! just out of interest do they still hold the record for fastest 0-100-0?

The only rule that disqualifies them from being on the board is if they cant fit over a sleeping policeman. They allow the cars to have any tyres they want on.

It was superbly quick but seems a bit pricey, I'd love to have a drive of one!

The Ariel Atom has 200 hp per ton more than an ultima GTR720 and it's nearly 3 seconds slower than the GTR720 around the Top Gear track. Why?

just shows how good 12k bikes are. They did use the BSB spec bike first but it was a few seconds quicker and cost 80k to build.

Foul play cried the producers!

Why would they need to 'relax' the rule? I thought R888s were fully road legal?

The Exige comes as standard with Yokos own version of the R888.

I too wonder why TG seem to ignore Ultima?

Just have a vague recollection of Hammond & Clarkson arguing about a car (can't remember what) that had just done a great lap. The argument went:

Clarkson; "Doesn't count - it's on slicks."
Hammond; "They're road legal."

(Repeated lots!)

Maybe whatever it was failed the speed-bump test, so the argument became academic.

They don't like the Ultima because of that unofficial lap that they did and made everything else look a bit silly. (Apart from just not liking kit cars!)

How would the Ultima get on with speed bumps? I guess a fair few are road cars, so I'd have thought they'd be OK?

The only cars i seem to remember not being allowed on the lap board were cars which were on FULL slick tyres which are ilegal.Ferrari fxx and aston martin DBR9 spring to mind.
Toyo R888's and Yoko AO48s are fully road legal and i would imagine many cars have set times on these tyres.

They also state that if a car cannot get over speedhump, even if it is road registered ie.Radical it will not be included.I suppose this could be debatable though depending on type of speedhump and ride height of the car.

The Atom V8 is a bit overpriced in my opinion,£100k ish would be nearer the mark and despite setting a blistering time it did look quite a handfull!!

Didn't the Caparo T1 get disqualified for not being able to get over a speed hump?

Yep. Its nose is a fag packets width off the ground with no way of raising it. The atoms is considerably higher.

There is a lot of carbon fibre on it, I would have thought the frame would be T45 or similar but don't know for certain.

It's a similar weight to the Caterham R500, but twice the power, but more than three times the price...

It's special, every inch of it.
