Hi Guys,

Looking to buy a kit car in the near future, for £4-6k dependent upon what I can get for my money.

I have seen the following car for sale in the classifieds:

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1496622.htm

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for in a car like this? Damage? Build history etc?

Also - has anyone any experience of buying cars from ToyBox? I googled the name but it didn't bring up much information but it seems like the owner - Andy?- has a few cars for sale.

Any help gratefully received,

Thanks

Any accident damage should be fairly apparent on inspection as you can pretty much see all of the chassis from either inside the car, inside the engine bay and from underneath. It'll all be box section steel so you will be able to see any deformities or repairs quite easily.

It might be worth visiting and having a look at a few of the car as you may find (not knowing anything about your build/height) that the non-widebody cars might be a squeeze.

Thank you for the advice. Good point about the size of the car also! I am 6'1" and of average build (14st) so not fat but not thin!

I have found a bit of info regarding the dealer, mixed reports shall we say. I think I will definately go and have a look at the cars though and see what's what.

My next local Yorkshire Westfield meet is held on 1st Feb but unfortunately I will not be able to make it.

About the same as me then. I struggled a bit with the narrow bodied car I bought and got a widebody car and that was a lot roomier. The problem I had was that my knees got in the way of the steering and the gearchange a bit so if you can sit in both while you're there you'll learn a lot I imagine.
