stainless column stalks, replacement for Ford originals
Discussion
can anybody help me with fitting instructions of those stalks:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
it says for "old ford models", so escort, capri but NOT sierra.
what i dont understand: for wiper-wash and horn the original stalks need to be pushed, in that case the outer handle moves onto the stalk.
the new solid stainless ones will not work for these functions.
anyway..how are those fitted as replacement for ford escort mk2 ones?

basically the ford switch arm are cut off,a hole drilled and the new stalks epoxy glued in place.for the horn i have the centre push type in my steering wheel boss so this was not a problem.for the screen wash,as i was using sierra stalks,i used a set from a hatchback and wired the washers to the rear wash/wipe function.
i am happy with the result but unfortunately have no photos

Suggestion - contact DJ Sportscars as they are selling the items.
I have just been looking at my old Haynes manual as it is a long time since I owned an Escort.
The wash/wipe switch does not have to be pushed as there was no rear wiper. From memory: pull for wash, flick down for single wipe, up one notch for normal wipe speed, up a second notch for fast wipe, There was no intermittent wipe function.
Horn required a push in on the multi-function switch, combined with full/dip/flash and left/right indicators.
Cannot think of third stalk so it is probably used as a horn switch.
Fitting will obviously require dismantling of existing stalk switches.

do people read what people write???? seems not.
in the first posting i thought stating clearly NOT refering to SIERRA Stalks!!!!! and the replies:
most of you here are refering to a sierra switchgear...which can be cut and a thread been tapered in.
i´m talking of escort MK2 stalks, which are round, made of steel and so thin that they can´t be cut and a thread tapered in.
escort MK2 has a push function on the wiper stalk for wash and a push function on the indicator stalk for horn.
installing additional switches to compensate the loss of the push-ones isnt worth the hazzle nor does it make sense.
i remember that the same seller sold similar items for the sierra stalks...so the description "for old ford stalks" was indicating (for me) that he is refering to non-sierra stalks.
