Chaps,

I have had my JZR Morgan inspired replica for coming up four years now, iv been lavishing a little TLC on her over the past few months and have now decided to go the whole hog.

Plenty done so far; powder coating parts, rebuilt engine, rear Tyre, battery, new wheels and rewired. . . the list goes on.

So, its time to strip it all back again and send her to the body-shop for a lick of paint.

I have taken a shine to a light green tea colour lately, combined with red wire wheels. What do you think?

Funds permitting, i think the brake kit shown below would look tasty. Brake gear is very visible, the old cortina equipment fitted now is looking increasingly tired.

I would appreciate any alternative suggestions/ colour combos....

Pic of mine below, others for inspiration/ photoshopability!

Cheers, Mitch

British Racing Green would help the period feel but I do like the Red.

Nice Car.

My Grandad has a 1932 Matchless V twin version of this in British Racing Green (sprayed by him self many many many years ago with an early vacuum cleaner as a compressor!)

I would have to go with BRG if it were me, sadly Grandad is currently fighting a loosing battle so I fear his cars will get sold off frown

What ever you choose I'm sure it will look great and defineatly get the calipers, they look very nice thumbup

Hmmm, thanks for the Photo Slomax!

I think it looks fab, maybe the red wheels and green is a little 'strong'.

Iv got three spare wire wheels, maybe ill get one red and one black, at least then i can look at form each side to get a good impression!

Im gonna have an indepth search for the perfect green, although I do love the red...

Nice trike!
Hope you don't mind the slight thread derailing (tell me to f-off and start me own if you like!), but which engine do you have in there? Looks like a Moto Guzzi V-Twin? Possibly a 500 or 750? How do you find the performance?

I'm considering building a Morgan replica when the garage is finished. Possibly to a BRA design, with some mods to make it closer to the new morgan in style. I've read that the of the big engines the California is preferred as there more torque low down than the sports bikes. Seems donor bikes are a good £2500+. I would like pretty rapid (hot hatch?) performance if possible - the new Moggie has 115bhp, whilst I'm not expecting that, a 77 or 90bhp Guzzi sounds a good choice. Another option seems a Honda ST1100 OR 1300 with 100/115bhp, but I'd prefer an air cooled twin to a v4. Any feedback on your set up, performance, vibrations though the chassis etc gratefully received. Are you running the original bike wheel/tyre at the back?

Duncan, Most JZRs run Honda CX500 or CX650 motors, although they can be fitted with Guzzi motors too.

You might be interested to have a look at this BRA fitted with a guzzi engine-

I think the price is too high though and wonder why you would buy this over an original-

If you can, try to get over to Stoneleigh on May bank holiday. Biggest kit car show in the UK (probably in the world) with circa 4000 kits on show. Loads of JZRs, Lomax, Pembletons, a few BRAs and probably the odd Tri-King as well. Everyone is really friendly and are more than happy to talk about kits all weekend long!
