I've recentlt bought a cat b caterham 7. It had sustained damage to the rear on the chassis but in my opinion not enough to warrant a total loss. the damage was very light, i bought the rear chassis repair section from caterham as well as the rear panel for £880. I found some caterham chasis dimensions on the net and put the car on my car o liner jig with a calibrated measuring system and everything was spot on. so now im near the end of the repair and need help on the best way to go about registoring it.
The car was a factory built caterham, everything on it says caterham on it, gearbox, steering rack and so on. I did plan on taking it for an sva as a new build as ive removed all parts which have since been either painted, powder coated or polished. The only thing is ive only had to buy a few new parts so dont have many receipts.
Is there anyone who has any advice on this to get it on the road (prefferebly not on a q plate) i would be very greatfull, thanks alot lee

sounds like age related plate-need to check it out with caterham to find out where you stand,if trying to register as brand new will need receipts or be designated age related

It was my understanding that Cat B cars HAD to be dismantled (and Cat A crushed), only Cat C and D can be rebuilt and put back on the road. Maybe that's not right?

Interesting.

None of the rear of the chassis of a Caterham behind the rear bulkhead (seat back) is structural in any way.

Is it a Nickel Bronze or Mig welded chassis?

I know of a cat b kit car that was put back on the road on it's original registration.

I did think up to that point that it couldn't be.
