Not quite on the road for real yet, still needs the lights fitting, but apparently not much else to get on the road out in AZ

It all seems a bit more relaxed than our IVA test frown

Can't really put my finger on it, but it does look better than the other UK ones I've seen.

Russ, if that was slightly curvier and not so slab sided I would love one. Is there no old single seaters which you could cheaply mould off of and tweak panels to fit? I know its just my personal taste, but I am sure if it looked more like a Formula 3 or something then the audience should widen significantly. It does look much better in white thoug agreed. And am i strange in finding the wheels and tyres quite sexy????????

The new high nose & wide front wing are significant tweaks, matt black wheels help the overall F1 look (at least so everybody tells me!) tho' I feel the wheels/tyres on this one are a bit narrow, particularly at the rear, tho' it's a commonly adopted cost saver.

Re the slab sided thing, do you mean the centre "tub" or do you mean the sidepods? (the pods are a lot less slabby when seen in the flesh) The centre tub of a modern F1 car IS very flat, slab sided, modern(ish) side pods were very "square" around 99/2000 when I first started on the car, current sidepods are very curvy with the "alien eye" style air intake openings & sidepods have got steadily curvier thro' the last decade & the "alien eyes" are getting flatter & flatter. Coming up with new sidepods is not a big deal, but you've still got to get the fuel tank & radiator in there, the current ones also provide a fair bit of luggage space (was very useful on the Le Mans trip!), a much bigger issue is that if you change the sidepod shape you also need to change the whole rear lower engine cover as the sides mount to the side pods, it can all be done, but it's all money &, surprise surprise, no-one wants to be the one who pays for it.

TBH I've never expected to sell hundreds of them, though both sales & enquiries for complete cars are significantly on the increase, interestingly very few people seem to want to be bothered with the hassle of a donor to strip & the actual building of a car, I don't think the increase in IVA prices (versus SVA) & retest fees has helped, but I get more enquiries from the States than I do from UK!
