As above, I bought a 2004 factory built Tiger R6 on saturday - I absolutely love it - much better then the Tiger Cat E1 I had a few years ago.

Spec is a 2 litre zetec (silvertop I think - although it's been painted red) on Webber 45's with a Quaife straight cut gearkit in a type 9 box, and someone spec'd 6 pot Tarox front calipers?! Seems a bit overkill on a car of that weight, but not complaining.

A few things I'm looking for advice on though if anyone can point me in the right direction:

  • Rev limiter seems to be set at 6000rpm - this feels low for a modern 16v engine - believe the limit is set on the Webber ignition system. Is it possible to change this - although peak power is presumably just below the 6000rpm mark it's very easy to run into the limiter in 1st/2nd coming out of corners and would be nice to have 7000rpm to play with.
Planning on getting fast road cams/vernier pulleys/ported head in due course.

  • The seats are hideously uncomfortable - seem to be Tiger fit fibreglass buckets (that don't have a headrest) with a hint of padding clipped in. I'm not a massive guy at 5'9/12 stone 8 and not fat, but I do a lot of sport and my legs are a bit big!
Any idea for replacement seats that may be a bit wider/less hugging, plus have some padding? I'm planning on taking the car to Le Mans in June and it'll be a bit emotional with the current seats.

There is a picture of the car actually on the Tiger Website under the R6 details - the funny blue/green one at the bottom.

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Hi, the rev limiter on my R6 is set at 6300 which i think is about normal on these, i'm afraid though i don't know how it could be changed, you'd be best off 'phoning Tiger for advice. Have you seen the Tiger owners club forum? - it's probably your best bet for further advice and you may be able to source some pre-owned seats on there that are more suited to you.
Pete.

Thanks for the reply - it could well be at 6300 in fairness - I don't know how accurate the rev counter is, plus the revs fly by pretty quick in the first couple of gears.

I might well give Tiger a ring in the next couple of weeks to ask about the rev limiter (think it has a webber ignition system but haven't had a good poke around under the dash yet) as it would be nice to have 7000rpm to play with just so it's easier to avoid the limiter in 1st/2nd gears. Probably not worth holding onto the revs that high on a standard zetec in higher gears as peak torque/power tailed off by then.

I was thinking about re-joining the Tiger owners club - I used to be a member back when I had my Cat E1. Went to one meet in Cheddar (near Bristol) a long time ago.

Congrats on the R6. I'm just getting one myself and am looking for seats too. I'm strapped for cash but do like the look of the Cobra roadster 7's but dont know if they will fit. The R6 is narrower than most 7 type cars so measure it up before buy anything.

If you find anything quickly, I might be interested in having your GRP seats off you (the R6 I'm getting is race prepared and only has 1 seat so the girlfiend isn't too happy).

Enjoy the car

Hi Joe

I'm running a silvertop zetec in a fury, with webcon ignition.

unfortunately (i've tried everthing), it seems that it is only the webcon dealers who have the software to speak with the ignition systems.

If anyone can get it, id love a copy!!!!!!!!!

I used a webcon dealer to adjust it when the rolling rod set up was done on mine. The engine has had cams and headwork, but is still limited to 6800, mainly due to the silvertops having hydraulic lifters.

Hope this helps

Lee

If you wanted trimmed seats, have a nose at the intatrim range of seats, I'm informed the ranger is the same seat that tiger badge up and fit imtothe r6 and the odyssey will also fit and looks to have more side support. They will work out at about £350 per pair delivered. If you are after shell seats, tillet make nice seats that cost the earth but also take a nose at jk composites (not sure if anyone has fitted these in an r6, but popular with other models)

condolences for having a webcon ecu installed.

on one of my ex-cars the former owner installed a webcon ecu for the ignition (vauxhall redtop engine).

i had no access to change anything, also it came setup totally wrong, even it was bought as a complete kit for a vauxhall retop.

finally one of my software-specialists found a way to change the ignition curve and dwell time (dont ask me how he has done it), but finally I decided to sell the system and buy a free programmble one.

Ill probably change mine at some stage. The only possitive thing is that I know its set u nicely because I spent a couple of days with Richards Bros in redruth, and everything was set and remapped on their rolling road.
