Chaps

We have a slight problem with the windscreen on my Grantura race car. At high speed the negative pressure above the roof 'pulls' the roof upwards and the top of the windsceen comes out of the rubber and it doesn't necessarily slide back into place at rest ie it sits on the edge of the rubber. Apart from the fun this would cause in any rain I'm worried about the whole lot parting company.

Has anyone come across this before? I thought about trying to attach a tie rod between scuttle and roof, any other suggestions?

Cheers

The least intrusive way is to either weld a tang onto the roll cage top rail or use a clamp type bracket if you want it to be removable.. Then you can use a small female threaded rod and drill a very small hole through the roof to take a Dome head fastner, This then holds the roof in a fixed position relative to the hoop which is fixed. This stops the roof from lifting at speed. You could also use a coachbolt and nylon washer with a nylock inside the car.

Use the right screen seal.... and bond with silicone, shell to rubber/rubber to screen then screen to rubber/rubber to shell for a metre across the screen, ensure the rubber has been degreased first.
