Taimar, and here are a few questions to start with:

Don't seem to have a jack or wheelbrace, where are they stored when I do get them?

Looks like may of had a replacement bonnet at some stage, no side repeaters fitted, are they common to any more popular (easier to find) cars?

Rear bumpers are hard rubber, fronts fibreglass, replacements when bonnet done maybe ?

Would it have had a cigarette lighter originally (handy for sat-nav)? Looks like a hand made alluminiun dash, perhaps someone in days gone by didn't smoke so saw no point in having one?

Sure they'll be plenty more once I start delving into bigger issues, brakes pulling/useless, clutch very heavy/fierce, noisy release bearing, general strange noises/viabrations etc. etc. !!!!

Thanks in advance, Mike.

here's my answers from the 3000S perspective, no doubt the M's will be along shortly.....
- jack and brace stored to the left of the passenger's feet in a compartment made of hardboard and carpet!
- side repeaters are listed as coming from MGB for export USA. They can be bought for around £54 each on fleabay or @Adrian
- quarter bumpers: rubber all round is the norm, try @Adrian or David Gerald, >£100 each for re-manufactured items. Occasionally you'll see chrome ones come up on ebay for £000's eek Sounds like the reason for bonnet replacement may have been a shunt - have you had chassis alignment checked?
- cigar lighter should be on the right of the ash-tray on the centre console, not the dash. Aluminium dash definitely non-original. Sounds like you don't have the owners manual - I scanned mine to PDF if you're interested - PM

Saw your "Two's company...." post on the S Series forum so you'll know what's in store when it comes to "standard" TVR fit! Front number plate on most M's is in the same place as the S, not on the bonnet.

Good luck with the project!

The jack is a simple scissors jack. The manual says it is stored in the tray in the rear luggage shelf.( I just carry fluid)
The lighter should be on the switch panel.
The repeaters are Lucas L824. These were also used on export Mgb's and export E Types. In recent times I have obtained 3 on the USA Ebay site. They come up often and are much cheaper than when they come up over here.

So this is what I've got.......

Orange light between speedo and tacho is indeed heated rear screen despite the rocker switch appearing to have a built in lamp ?
Haven't yet worked out the red warning lamp to left of speedo, near instrument light dimmer ?

No ashtray or lighter !

And finally (for now) that hideous stereo has got to go (think I've still got a 5 push buttom Motorola somewhere scratchchin)

The lights within the switches are no more than coloured decals and are all lit when the sidelights are on....we did the alloy dash set for a previous owner and no cigar lighter was part of his spec...but a USB/data port was hidden under the dash (quite special at the time).

On the subject of lights, has anyone gone for sidelights in headlamps and replaced indicator/sidelamp units with an all orange indicator only unit ?

Yeah, from paperwork with car looks like he spent a bob or two with you !

At some stage I'll have to come and have a chat and find out what a "JW engine" and a "heavy duty" 5 speed gearbox are ?

PS radiator you fitted in 2004 is leaking, still under warranty ? laugh

The JW engine and the correct T5 gearbox...JW devolopment is John Wade 01902798303 and the T5 with the correct syncro rings, (which allows the box to be as quick as the 4 speed it replaced) and different prop output (in short T5's are NOT ALL they appear to be, you NEED to pick and choose the correct internals along with the correct casings). Re the marker ...the owner did not like them...I do not think the bonnet has been replaced.

The radiator (made bespoke) never had any warranty in 2004....just joking....which version, push in OR screw in otter switch?

By the time I saw this, I was already ankle deep in wood, and Aluminium shavings. Thought "self, how long can it possibly take?" Finished 11:00PM last night.
Best,

AND I have blanks of the alloy sheet (as I would of never had one done dash would I!) with holes cut with 2 large dials and 2 air vents as a start point.
PS B...I should of done the pocket too, post or PM me a picture of the catch...pretty please.

Mike, some of the export models ran with pure orange indicators with no side lights ...I have also had the early 72-74 orange lens remade as a clear lens (then using a orange bulb) they give the look of the later plastic lamp lens (obsolete) but in the much better hard chrome surround version.

Follow the link and click once to enlarge. It's a panel latch I took from a DC3 that wasn't using it any more. I'll check the manufacturer and get the info to you.

Best,
B.

Should still be a few just down the road (unless they've now gone).

Hi Paul, http://www.classicflight I forgot they run 3 x DC-3's, 2 x DC-6's, 1 x Pembroke, 1 x Prentice, 1 x Proctor, 1 x Twin Pioneer, 1 x Anson, 1 x Chipmunk, 1 x Vampire, 2 x Venoms, 2 x Meteors 2 x Canberras, 2 x JP's and an Auster out of the airport here, when the winds in right direction we hear them take off (when the wind is in the wrong direction we hear the Birmingham plane take off!).

Adrian, Air Atlantique based at Coventry Airport, run DC3s on behalf of the Enviroment Angeny and others, they also restore the aircraft (mainly for African customers). It was one of the first aeroplanes to be given an unlimited flying hours airframe, so many are still in use in Africa. Therefore the parts may be closer than you think!
