OK this is just the germ of an idea that came up talking to the Gamekeeper this afternoon.
I know that there are quite a few people who read this forum on and off, who are in the process of re building their cars and I wondered whether it would be a good idea to have some kind of meet where we could get together and compare notes, maybe have a beer. One possibility might include those who could transport their project bringing them along.
In terms of venue, one idea was to have it alongside some other function, maybe a race meeting or some other car show for example
As I said, just an idea.
I throw it on the mercy of the forum.......

Hi, I think it's called the pre 80s meet and it takes place in september 18th at Newark air museum. It's the biggest turn out of early cars you will see.
Yes, I know, but its not always convenient for all. For example, this year it falls on the last day of the Goodwood revival. I wondered whether there was any interest in an informal gathering... with beer.
Sounds like a good plan to me. Difficult bit will be working out the "where".
I remember about 20 years ago Colin Parry (RIP) organised a "Technical Information Transfer" - it was known as Colin's TITs. There was only one but it was useful and I seem to remember it was quite well attended. I met John Upham and got a copy of his "what comes from where" sheet which, in pre-internet days, was a wonder.

once upon a time The TVR car club had regional meetings where old car folk turned up and kicked tyres...as time passed less and less old car folk turned up due principally to a lot of the newer more modern TVR Bretherin also attending and not really recognising what the Old type TVR's were (I kid ye not)The bitter and twisted grumpy old sods then retired to their own garages and still meet up regularly to play with each others old cars and chew the fat.
regretably this makes it much harder for some younger Old car type folk to benefit from the mass of experience which is out there...
Then their is the internet.....
its an interesting concept this meeting up and enjoying beer But many of us already do this and have done for many a year!!

Hey guys, well I would be up for for a beer and a chat... my Vixen S2 is getting closer to completion (again), after a comprehensive engine rebuild, and I`m now in the process of tidying the engine bay prior to installing an electronic fuel pump.
Let me know where and when and I will be there, work and band duties allowing.

If it's old cars then surely chewing the lard - or where I come from that'd be called dripping. Ah, Sunday tea, beef dripping sandwiches - takes me back to when old TVRs were new! Gassing Station | TVR Classics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
