I have a 1962 Grantura MKIIA with knock offs and the other day my wife was following me down the road and noticed that the right rear wheel had a wobble. I jacked up the rear end and noticed that the right rear wheel would spin easy and it would get hard in a spot and then rotate free then hard again. The two “hard” spots were about 180 degrees from each other. Upon removal of the wheel, the hub would turn the same way, with two “hard” spots. Once I removed the brake drum, the axle would turn free with no “hard” spots. Is the brake drum bad/out of balance or is it something else? Also, is the brake system from a Austin Healey?

Have your local garage check for thickness, and put the drum on a lathe. Also, put the wheel on without the drum, and turn it. See if it runs true. Sounds like you have two problems. One, an our of round drum, and two, a bent wheel? Your wife should not have been able to see the sticky brake.

Do swap the wheel away from that side of the car. Adrian@
