I'm off to the Beaulieu Autojumble next week and will be looking out for a few bits and bobs and wondered what type of seat belts would have been fitted to my 69 S2 as none came with the car. I certainly don't want the harness type and I presume the belts would have been static, pre inertia reel type? Any thoughts on what I should keep a look out for?

Kangol. The retractable type. The "real" should be fitted to the inner wheel arch, just behind the seat.

I will be there as well...on the Friday and Saturday.

Cheers,
D.

up to early Pre servo S2 were infact static.
Later s2 (Servo) on were retractable. it wouldn't surprise me if some servo cars were also static.

The early static type ran through a bracket on the rear of the seat backrest.

Andy, have a look at this site. They make new seat belt copies of Kangol style 1970's ones. They are very nice although not sure on TVR authenticity. Worth a look though.

I have fitted a set of Securon inertias to my Vixen S2 and they look reasonable period. They came off ebay from a late rubber bumper MGB GT (MOT failure not a wreck)and they fit very well. The real is on the wheelarch as on the the B GT. You may have to extend the floor mounting next to the tunnel if you get the stalk type and have the seats well foward.

Securon are available new. www.securon.co.uk

Vixens NEVER had retractable seat belts. Always static with webbing lapstrap. Bolted through rear body mountings behind seats and rear wheelarch with spreader plate under arch

Mine 1972 Vixen S3 has low back seats and static Britax seat belts.
Mounted to the rear wheelarches.

I had always thought later S3 were inertia reel, must have been retro fit. certainly my S1 and S2 were Static.N

Hi, I live in Australia & own a 1976 TVR3000m, my car had retractible seat belts but they were too worn for MOT so I used a pair from a Hyundi Sonata [so I was told by the car wrecker]these had a plastic cover to cover the inerta wheel & it had only to be slightly modified to make it look as the original was.

My Tuscan V6, delivered in November 1971, shortly after Eric's(Vixen's) Vixen S3, also had static unmarked seat belts.

Hi Mike does your car still have the original seat belts?
My Vixen still has the original ones. On the short side (the side with the release button)
which is black with a chrome metal back is the name Britax. No name on yours at that side?

I'm afraid mine suffered the dreaded rot, due to 20 years in the garage, but I don't remember any markings on them.

I now have inertia reel belts fitted, with the reel fixed through the floor nearest the doors, and a turning buckle on the rear wheel arches, as with original static belts.
