Will M series shell fit a later 90's chassis for instant V8?
Discussion
As you can buy a 90's rolling chassis c/w engine etc (i.e. CAT C or D writeoff chimeara) for the price of a low mileage V8 @ £3-4K.
Will a M series shell drop on to a later style chassis with a (few alterations maybe?) to create an instant V8 powered trackday car?
Anyone tried this before? Why wouldnt it work? Saves upgrading the drive train right through the original car.
Just thinking out loud....

Is that not what the late PW's car was... and I think Geoff Gwynne has bought all the parts to do this...Adrian@
From the discussions in another thread, the consensus was that it was widened. Not sure that's correct though. Be nice to build one with a 9.5" Fontana Aluminium block.
Best,
B.
Granted it is wider ...I was asked to put a price on my new 3000S shell by the team as they were about to build the car, without knowledge of what the project was going to be. BUT, I thought a shell as the PW car was available recently.

or bring your chassis to those guys, at least it looks like they can do a lot, came across their website a few weeks ago and saw also that they can make your chassis ready with updates from the Tuscan etc or make it ready to except LS3 or build for you a complete new TVR with LS3
many pictures etc on their website.

The chassis under PW's 5000M is actually a modified version of the proposed Sagaris GT chassis, which I assume is an evolution of the T chassis.
As stated the body is both wider and longer.
If you speak to Brian Hosfield at Lawfield engineering in Bristol Avenue he can supply the body and/or the chassis.

and yes we looked at getting a PW shell from spacecomposites , we missed the white one that was on ebay a while back but they said that they could make one at the time.
Cheers
Geoff.

Hi. I think that you're correct in principal but it may be more work than you initially thought. The wheelbase is the same but the transmittion tunnel is wider so you'd need a lengthways cut to widen the car; then the front and rear screens wouldn't fit so widen the transmittion tunnel only and your seat width would be reduced, so I think you'd need a Griff/Chim windscreen, widen each seating area by about 4" and widen the rear wings whilst keeping the M series rear window, but the B pillar shape with a widened roof but original rear window may be tricky. Then you may need wheelarch extensions to account for the remainder of the extra one foot width of the Griff/Chim. Quite a project.M body has upside down "troughs" where the frame recesses up into the floor. At the sides, the rocker panels make the outside of the frame recess. Measure your frame, and your body to see how they coordinate, or you'll be whittling fiberglass 'til the end of days. Alternately, find a body made for your frame, cut the floor/trans tunnel & graft around the perimeter. Extensive fiberglass work is the drizzling s
ts.
Can't you simply trade your T frame for an M one? Perhaps sell one, buy another? If I had to start again, I'd do it with a Fontana Aluminium block, TKO box, fabbed rear uprights, and a Salisbury 4HU (just to piss you off, Neil).
Best,
B.
On edit: IIRC, some of the Aluminium racing seats are slightly narrower than the narrow fiberglass ones in the overall seat base dimension.
