I am doing work on my newly acquired 1971 2500 vixen. The rubber boots on my track rod ends have long since failed and i am looking for new rod ends. Does anyone know what part i need? TR6, triumph 2000 or 2500? Any help would be appreciated. The current rod ends look to be very close to the brake disk is this normal? as an alternative does anyone sell a rose joint kit?

I've had trouble with upper balljoints for my vixen S4. brought new ones from a TVR specialist (unboxed)and they were so tight I couldn't move them by hand. The steering wouldn't centre and was a real struggle to turn the wheel. Purchased next set from my local motor factors and got genuine QH, (boxed)instead of unboxed balljoints and they did the job fine. wiggled them about before I left the shop. Unless I have no alternative mail order is a no no for me from now on. I want to see what I'm buying.

I was under the impression that the top ball joints for a Vixen were a TVR part and therefore not available from a general motor factor?

He's talking about a Vixen S4 ( M Series chassis). Adrian@

Sorry guys, yes it's an S4. TR6 topball joint. proved to be a nightmare, wasted a week with waiting for mailorder to arrive, then messing around trying to free it up, finally another 24hrs for my motorfactor to get one in for me. However I could feel the difference as soon as i opened the box in the shop.

There must be some connection between calling yourself "Yodel" and liking to wiggle those balls between your hands before leaving the shop.

sorry no such connection, equally sad reason for using the name yodel though. Yodel are my main customer, thought i'd give them a bit of a plug, but obviousley falling on deaf ears though.7
By the way I don't (yodel that is).

i would think it would be simple matter to make up a rose joint that would work. No?

What is the relevance of an item being boxed...and as for genuine QH, I think you find that they are a generic supplier that care about the same as any other generic after market supplier. The QH track rod end for the M does not have enough articulation for the M (it may be correct for the TR6 but not an M which has more droop) ..BUT then they are listed for a TR6 and not a TVR.

whereever my trackrod ends originated from is pretty irrelevant really, except that the tvr specialist supplied an unboxed item with no details of supplier and it was crap. Too stiff to work properly. The boxed items from my motor factor were of servicable quality and i had the opportunity to see them and wiggle them about before parting with my hard earned cash. Whether QH manufacture their own parts is also pretty irrelevant, but at least I can phone them up and get service from them if i need to, yes they speak to me and have been very helpful.
It's all about traceability and people taking responsibility for what they sell.
