Just seen this very original S2 on Ebay...... item no 230683418799

Was interesting to me as it is registered just a few numbers after my own S2.... Mine came from Brittans so I guess this one did too!

The interior looks very original, but I see the underbonnet layout is much different from my own.

I presume it's an incorrect very early bonnet. Looks pretty though and as you say fairly original and unmolested. This seller has 2 Vixens and a very early 1600M for sale currently. I wonder where he finds them all from?

No its a correct early sausage bonnet car which was fitted to early S2 vixens (Pre servo TR6 pedal box) although this car also has a remote servo option. The sausage bonnet was Martins Piss take at american emissions legislation I believe!

That's interesting because my S2 is an early car (registered Jan 69) and has the early pedal box/no servo but has the standard bonnet, which I think is original to my car but who knows!

Neils correlation between non servo pedalbox and bonnet is a red herring. The sausage bonnet was the "standard" bonnet, the other bonnet which is found on most Vixens was infact a Tuscan bonnet and was an option on Vixens. Same applies to the "Tuscan" alloys

Ah! But weren't the first 75 (ish cars) IE The ones with the left over S1 pedal boxes the only ones to have the sausage bonnet as a possibility because with the advent of Later series 2 Vixens the Tuscan bonnet was standardised rather than being an option. I have never seen a later servo'd car with a Sausage bonnet ?? But always happy to be proven wrong.

lots of interesting info guys.....never knew about the sausage bonnet before !

The pedal boxes are interesting.... mine looks to be a Triumph brake and clutch pedal (Herald or Spitfire I think )....certainly not a TR variety.
Mine has a servo, not remote like the one in the pic. Also, I have never seen a battery box like mine on another car!
Mine sits lengthways on top of the passenger footwell, and sits in a grp moulded box..

I thought it would have been sensible to make one moulding and make as many cars from the moulds as possible to amitorise your investment....obviously not at TVR..

It sounds as if your car is a later S2 with a TR6 Pedal Box and servo. The Moulded battery tray was also Later S2. Their are a few different configurations mainly around which heaters were installed etc.

So although mine is a later S2, it was registered before the one for sale! CGU 635H.

I suppose it could have sat at the dealers for a while before being built... mine was a component car and was built by the first owner at his dads factory in london before being driven to Scotland for a 2 week honeymoon, via the Factory, who offered a free check over to owners to ensure everything had been screwed together properly.

Nice wedding present to self I thought!

as Steve alluded to..Most Vixen owners opted to have the tuscan style bonnet as an optional extra. It could be that this car when new spent some time out of the UK and came back and was re-registered. It would be interesting to see the chassis number. The first 70--odd cars had the S1 pedal box and no servo and a flat passenger side bulkhead panel. Most of these cars are usually on G Plates.
