I am planning the winter re-build of my S2 Vixen and would apreciate some advice regarding the diff please.
I will be using a supercharged xflow with bundles of torque so I'm guessing the little Triumph diff will not last long.

Is there a recognised modification? ... fabrication of mountings etc is not an issue.

The motor is producing 158 BHP and 162 ft-lbs torque, LSD is a must. I have full fabrication facilities to hand however I would always prefer the simpler option when undertaking a project, cost is also big consideration.

Do you intend to compete in a raceseries or use it on the road?

If the former, then you need to consult the technical regs of the series you are interested in, some are more restrictive ethan others, if the latter then go for the Ford/Cossworth 8/9" diff.

I was stood in the newsagents a couple of months ago, flicking through ‘TRIUMPH WORLD’, there was an article on a company offering a BMW dif conversion with LSD for TR5/6’s.

Might be worth a trip down the scrappy with your tape measure? I bet a newish BM dif is cheaper than a rebuilt Cosworth item? No idea what ratios the various models run or which have LSD, but even a boggo 318 has 140 bhp?

I'll be using the car for the odd hillclimb and regularity rally in France, local regs are not a problem so I am free to use anything.

What's the score regarding drive shafts mods, is there a 'bolt-on'solution, chassis pick up points for the diff casing I can handle easily my self.

The BMW diff conversion offered by Southern Triumph for the TR’s is designed to make the diff fit the TR mounts. I think if you were to fit one in a TVR, it would be simpler to make a new diff carrier utilising the BMW mounts.

You would have to modify the drive shafts to fit the BMW flanges or replace the existing flanges with specials, to suit the existing drive shafts, in the TR conversion they have cut the inboard UJ’s of and grafted on the BMW CV joints. You would have to look at measurement between the output flanges, compare the BMW diff with the Triumph diff and how this affects where the splines sit through suspension travel. You would have to marry up the prop up in the same way.

Re the Sierra .... what is the score with the drive shaft inner flanges please?

BTW I like the grey colour of your chassis, is that Massey Furguson grey by any chance?
