Hi,

Got my 2500M in bits, engine stripped and just had some bad news from my engineering company, the crankshaft is beyond salvation (alreday out to +.030 on the mains & seriously worn. Anyone recommend somewhere to get a replacement from? It needs a re-bore and head re-build too, wondering if a replacement engine is the way to go

Engine number: MM35958HE, part number on the crankshaft is (i think) JGSB 17740B 311313

Any advice appreciated

Buying one from Rimmer is cirac £375 for a "short back" crank, long backs dont seem to be available anywhere. Now, I dont know if they are interchangeable or not? The part number is not the same though.... Anyone out there any the wiser?

Adrian, thanks for your post, I've sent you an email. I've put teh part numbers I have on teh original post, not sure what other infor you would need to check if it would be the correct part. I need either a crank shaft and bearings, or, if that fails, a replacement engine.....

Cheers

I think they are, but need the right matching flywheel. I know the blocks are interchangeable, even 2000 and 2500s provided you get the later ones with the extra cutouts at the bottom of the cylinders for the bigger crank throw and stroke, if that helps.

Not entirely sure but I think the cranks and flywheels were balanced separately too, so even a 2000 flywheel of right type should work ??

Try TRGB near Huntingdon. http://www.trgb.co.uk/

They have loads of used engines and parts and there's not much they do not know about the Triumph TR series. Their prices are reasonable also compared with Rimmer Bros which is probably something to do with their rural location. As you can probably guess I have use them alot. (For my 2500 Vixen)
