Hi All,

What would seem to be the simplest of replacement parts is giving me some trouble, replacing the rear drums on the S1 Vixen (wire wheel). Replacements sourced as TR3-6 9" drums (210578) however the holes for the wheel studs are too small to allow the base of the studs to pass through. Looking at the old drums (marked up as 2L04614) the holes are larger. Anyone come across this problem, have I the wrong replacements or is it a standard mod to have to drill out the holes in the drums to fit?

Thanks

Steve

I recently purchased a pair from the TR Shop, Chiswick, who are aware of the problem and can supply suitable drums if required. It is possible, I believe, to grind out the holes to fit but whether this is recommended ....?

Have you changed wheelstuds for beefier ones steve?

If not then it may be that you have just got incorrectly made parts.

Thanks Alan, at least it's not just me.

Some more Google research reveals 2 specs of TR 9" drums : TR4A onward (IRS cars) and TR2/3/4. The TR spares folks seem to supply TR4A onward spec as one size fits all. Typically it's the TR2/3/4 spec I need with the 14.5mm wheel stud holes.

Time for a trip to the machine shop.

From memory if the studs are incorrect, check the centre hole to being the wrong size too.
