Hi!
After refurbishing my cooling system and
changing my temperature sender (the old broke
while unscrewing), my water temperature gauge
goes up to 140 minutes after starting the engine.
I think this is a problem of the wrong sender,
because the engine doesn't really feel very hot.
Which is the right one for my 1600M and where do
I get it?

Thanks
Jo

Is the voltage stabiliser earthed out and working properly first? it runs the gauge at 10V, and if faulty would send 14v to the gauge, then it would read high regardless of what sender you have in.

The original Ford sender unit does not match the Smiths clocks, Merlin Motorsport at Castle Coombe and Europaspares can supply the correct one. Geoff

@adrian
I think the sender itself is the problem
because I only changed this and didn't work on
the electrical system.

I ordered one at Merlin...

Thanks!

When fiddling with Kit cars, I discovered that a Triumph 2000 Mk1 (NOT Mk2) sender fits in a Cologne V6 thermostat housing and is calibrated correctly for a Smiths temp gauge.
(it's actually a BSP plumbing thread)

I *think* that means it will also fit a Kent block ....

I now got a Lucas SNB110 sender
and that works well.

Thank you all!

Do you know if that's the Triumph one, or a different one (It's useful to know for the records...)

Don't know.
I only know it's also suitable for the essex engine.
