So Im a little confused...
Press my hazard light and either...
1 i hear the relays ticking and dash light stays solid or goes out.
2 one side indicators work but not both.
So after finding a spare hazard switch i decided to try it thinkin maybe the switch is worn.
Didn't do anything... So took it to bits and found how it works.
After this j cut 10cm copper wire, twist the middle together and both ends into two each so its a 4 prongged connector.
Pull plug from switch and play..
Top left is power in
Top right is dash light
Bottom left is o/s indicator
Bottom right is n/s indicator.
Connect all four and relays just tick.
Connect any three and half the hazards work...
I bought new ticker cans based on a supplier and a Lucas book that they should be 2x21w + 1x5w (i believe) but the car has 2x21w and 3x 5w. (front, rear, side repeater front and rear and dash)
Wrong ticker cans or bad wiring??

Yeah the indicators work like normal when not being hazards.
My left one sometimes doesn't click on straight away and if i flick the stalk into full beam position it then works... Im wondering if either the indicator stalk (currently a nova one :-/ ) had dirty internal or bad connections.
Would a dodgy stalk affect indicators? A friend suggested i should try ticker cans that are double the wattage rating...
At one point the hazards did work ok ish... Well all four bulbs lit at the same time but extremely dim.

The original Lucas flasher can was a heated bi-metal strip operated system that is calibrated for a specific wattage eg 2x21 watt globes & the indicator light was operated from the third pin of the unit. Adding extra lights as used in "hazard" lights draws more wattage, this upsets the operation [speed] of the unit. I suggest using an electronic unit that caters for wattage from 1 to 100 watts [common units], this will allow the correct operation [speed of flashings]no matter the number of globes in operation.
Do you think this is the problem?? when the ticker cans tick (when no hazard lights work) they do tick really fast.
I was tempted to check voltage at hazard switch.
Trying to understand the wiring diagram and system...
They way i understand it is...
Battery fuse indicator stalk ticker can indicators (front rear side) earth.
Hazards are a switch that goes battery fuse switch then join into the wiring loom before indicator stalk then ticker cans then indicators and earth.
Gonna look into the new flash cans regardless and have a think about it.
Cheers so far Steve
