With the front wheels off the ground I noticed that when turnng the wheels lock to lock, the noise generated from the top of the steering column sounds as if there is a dry bearing. This is wher it passes thru the bulkhead. I can't see any lubrication point. Can anyone confirm whether there is one and if so where it hides itself.

Thx...Moto

Two bearings in the steering column, but they are dry rubber mounted jobbies

I think they are part no 209423 here

use graphite or some sort of lock spray, don't use any wet lubricants.

Actually, this has just reminded me, I used to have a Spitfire and I had the same issue. It turned out to be the back of the steering wheel boss rubbing on the inside of the steering cowel assembly.
