Well after spending a few hours doing a few bits I've gotta say Im over the moon with my taimar!!!

Did the tappets on Saturday pm, (emptied garage and tidied up) had good feed back from the sparkies, all a hay straw colour, new rocker gaskets, touch of oil, replaced another weepy pipe (swirl to metal pipe at top of had) also altered the idle speed and got the choke to work (set at 1k revs)

And... she feels amazing!!! The noise, the feeling, the looks and the smell. No more smelling leaky fuel from the carb inlet pipe, no more leaking rocker gaskets having oil burn on the manifold and no more coolant smell at high revs... Absolutely amazing!!!

Even better a really good friend (consider as a brother) has a seat Leon cupra and currently mapped to 245 bhp and impressed how the taimar performs and more so for an old car :-D

Happy happy happy.

Just thought I'd share with you

I hope so and for everyone else. Got caught in a flash of rain last night, quick eye opener when the rear wheels spin so easily!!! :-O

But the rain passed and driving to the conditions kicked in, gentle and steady.

Gonna be annoying then the snow comes and i can use her but happy to have her then not

The only thing now is its worth giving a once over. Only greed the UK's two months ago but worth just having a squirt. Also trunnion levels and whatever else turns up

Atm its back together so i don't loose anything.

Hit a financial problem where as it appears I've been ID frauded. So contacted the Ombudsman (or however you spell it) and also the company. Finally after 6 weeks or letters emails phones and me quoting law they decided to believe me and drop it. Just awaiting a written letter to confirm this along with my email i have from them.

So probably be next month or so tl have the carb cleaned and rebuild kit bought.

I know people have said before there's no advantage but looked at Essex engines.co.UK at the inlet with a twin carb base and linkage to run two 38dgas... Which i have...

I have commented on this subject before and got told off, so...but indeed i do think you cannot do one single adjustment/alteration and forget about all the rest

mick, tbh if your engine is the same state as your carb, you've got other things to worry about (lol, taking the mick, so to speak)

I remember seeing a cosworth v6 on ebay a year ago and went for £240... If anything it'd be that or a v8
