Taimar tailgate hinges
Discussion
There is no cover that IS the hinge...the assembly bolts on from under the roof lining and the strut bars (which set the length of the hatch) are as such part of the hinge as they have bronze welded nuts at that hinge end.
INFO really...To remove the hatch you release the 4x3/8 UNF bolts that bolt through into the hatch , THEN release the 1/4 UNF bolts off the hatch bar (with someone at the hinge end, holding a spanner on the welded nut) from the inside of the end of the hatch noting threads showing and amount of penny washers fitted THEN slide it off, leaving the bars still attached to the hinge.
At this point you can access the hinge bolts under the roof lining.

Telly who??
Thanks chaps, all makes a bit more sense now. I had a quick look the other evening before posting, it looked like the nuts holding the hinge to the body brackets (visible coz the sunroof is out)were welded to the brackets making me think there must be a way to access bolts from above.
Once the glass is out to reduce the weight we'll see if it will come off.
Finally, while I'm not a stickler for authenticity, I seem to recall someone (Adrian ?) telling me hinges should be satin black and not body colour?
Despite looking like a pile of pooh the hinge to body nuts actually came undone (with a little Plus-Gas)

Bit more "prep" and it's off to the paintshop

Expected a stud or two to snap off when removing back lights but all 14 nuts came undone, think they must be plated brass coz when "you" drop them and they disappear under the fuel tank a magnet won't retrieve them !

Surprised to find 4 loose nuts holding door lock strikers, think tacking them to the re-inforcing plate on assemble will make catch adjustment easier?
Had the letter stamps ready to mark up the door hinges only to find they're already done, guess it helped someone at TVR put the right one in the right place.

On the driver's side of my 3000S, all 4 were tack welded in place, on the passenger side 3 were tacked and the fourth wasn't . . .
