Back at papplewick I saw that a few people had connected the bonnet catches together but didnt manage to have a good look, has anyone got a pic/how they did theirs.

Seen different types, solid metal rod and bowden cable, who used what?

Cheers Mick

Mike Bigland had an array of solid bars on his, I've got some pics of the setup if you want them.

I think a cable is the cheaper and probably easier method, but may be more prone the breaking.

Strange you say about Mikes as I looked this and only saw his had the solid bar.

I thought it literally connected closest end to end but didn't see properly.

I don't mind using both levers but easier/lazy linking the two.

Cars that have the cable version start at around late '78 ...though, M's retain the double lever system as they retain the M shell ...you need to remove the TVR part of the lever attached to the opener (it is welded on) BUT not damage the original hole on the minor lever, obtain a mounting bracket that attaches to the pedal box, a pull cable set (with the assoc. parts/outer cables and shell fitting adjuster, heater trunnion and end bolt with the spring capture fitting). Then modify the opener attachment bracket to accept the end of the spring (as this system is ONLY sprung from the opposite end to the handle)...THEN fit it! IF you really want to do it I can supply a full kit BUT I would want your lever openers as exchange first (you will get ones that I have modified and re-zinc plated). One thing this allows you to do is seal the slots (so you get less fumes) BUT, you then need to drill two minor holes to allow emergency access for emergency opening, just for that occasion the cable pull breaks!! that on the OE shell are filled with mushroom grommets.
