In your Garage scrap metal pile
Discussion
Do you have a window winder mechanism drivers side or both sides if thats what you got, from a MG Midget 1970-1973.I have located a used passenger side on fleabay from a 1978 which i have on my watch list but though i would wait to see if anyone has the drivers side or both sides they would like some beer tokens for on here first.

I thought it was Morris/Austin 1100 rears... Reality is that there are 5 and 6 tooth pinions out there and you cannot mix the gear sets up.

I have got some info from here encluding the winder mech, taken at face value as i have no idea of sourse..Adrian@

Noooo. These are genuine TVR factory parts, not some cut and shut scrapyard bits. Over the years I have invested a lot of time, money and effort into having the "right parts". Everyone now wants to troll the internet to save a few pounds and buy scrap metal pile parts. Those eagle eyed people would have noticed these were SWB regulators. They could even have the wrong number of teeth on the pinions, nasty.

No offence, but are you joking on the TVR parts point? If it's an original part why is the arm obviously welded to change its length ?
Or were my Vixen winders non-original if they were welded up ?
As far as I can tell, on the Series one Vixen, they are not the Midget item. They do not have the upward projection, and mine at least do not have any of the other parts of the pantograph system either.
I think the basic winder mechanism is common to many vehicles of the period (Jag Mk2, Midget even maybe Morris Minor) but the rod length / position on the quadant, varies as does the shape. The mounting bobbins also appear to be different heights on different models. On mine the mounting bobbins were ripped out on both mechanisms, when the car was dismantled
The closest approximation I have found to the TVR item are Riley 1500 front mechanisms, for which the rods looks to be about the correct length, but need to be shaped. The mounting bobbins are also taller on the Riley and so may need to be adjusted.
If anyone can shed light on how the mechanism works I'd love the know. Mine came handily dismantled. I had assumed that the pin abutts the bottom of the metal section on the window glass and heaves it up as the rod moves in an arc. The glass would then drop under gravity as the winder is reversed.....is that correct? I hope so as dont have anything else!!
