So who is more or less standard?
Discussion
Reading all these threads of classic bodies on modern chassis and V8 conversions on M cars, who still runs a Cross-flow in a Vixen or a V6 Essex in an M?
Mine's more or less standard with 105 bhp and I have no wish to change the engine to a V8.
Anybody else enjoy their more or less standard TVRs?

Sort 'a standard. Vixen with 1760 x/flow.
Strange really 'cause when I bought it I had plans to do something more dramatic. I really wanted to drop a bda in or if not a Lotus twin cam. But after driving it, I quickly fell for the x/flow's sound (runs of twin 40's) and performance (112bhp). It feels much quicker than it is but it's just so much fun that I don't feel that urge for more power

. Standard Taimar. Completely standard engine, even still got points and condensor.
Only new thing so far is a kenlowe temp sensor and 2 x 8" fans on the back of the rad.
Eventually I will go for electronic ignition and electric fuel pump.
New heater blower and possibly play about air intake on the carb, V8 engine idea (but most likely stay with Essex) and potentials upgrade the engine and power.

When I bought my Vixen S3 it was already fitted with a heavily modified 1650 with twin 40DCOE.
Discovered chassis was repaired, badly, in several places....
Dicovered body was the same, and also had some nasty cracks...
Slow rebuild since then - now not at all standard.
New chassis, 2.8V6 5 speed, TR6 diff, body repaired and reinforced, etc etc

My 3000M is fairly original compared to some. It has the V6 Essex although a previous owner many years ago modified the engine with a Stage 2 head and fast road cam. The last owner also fitted a Type 9 five-speed gearbox and a roll cage.
The car is still on its orginal chassis which is in good condition. It has not been rebuilt and has never been off the road during its 37 years.

Mine is an experiment to see how TVR could have evolved the M chassis, had they kept it in production for an additional decade. To that end, all of the original chassis and suspension components are retained, even if some are reinforced. Body, frame, suspension pick-up points, front and rear uprights, and A-arms are all the ones delivered when new (The frame has had some rot cut out and replaced, and the bonnet was replaced after a frontal collision with a taxi).
More than some, less than others.
Best,
