That is genius! Such a shame the factory didn't do it. I wonder if it would it de-value the car ?
Seems a bit of a long winded way to mess a car about to me....Reduced the range of the car by 50%, created a risk of fumes and water ingress, all to get to a spare wheel which may be needed once in a blue moon....Whats wrong with a space saver, , can of tyre weld or membership of the RAC/AA ??

What about the other 35 million cars on the road in the UK then. They have boots that don't leak or gas the occupants?
I should edit my post guys and change risk to certainty
Either way it is a hideous and un necessary mod, far cheaper to buy a can of tyre weld and decent quality tyres. I think in my entire driving career I can count on the fingers of 1 hand the amount of punctures I have had?? Ironically 2 of those were in the last 3 months!!No one disagreeing with the half size fuel tank then??

Its a typical TVR owner thing though isn't it...Gets seats with headrests so re-engineers rear of car to access spare wheel, Halving the size of the fuel tank in the process.
In fairness though the varnished ply top would make a delightful picknic table at car shows

Will be interesting to see what she makes afraid on viewing the car there is a lot of work to do the paint work is very much in need of re doing and lots of spider cracks the wheels are the wrong ones and the glass sunroof???? he obviously got a jig saw for christmass one year and went cutting holes.
OE or not i do like the rear letter box can just imagine going round Waitrose saying that wont go through the letterbox and a visit to Bookers well that would be an experience but all in all a clever take on solving a problem even if it causes others.
Plus seats etc etc etc ?????
Pictures of the body off restoration are comprehensive and show a good level of engineering skill so its maybe cosmetic however it was surrounded by other cars so access was limited and battery flat so did not hear her go body re bonded on not bolted.
Believe selling as now too low to get in and out of and has bought another classic.
Obviously loved and well used which is nice to see.
Lots of work for someone though.
